29/06/2005 Wreckage as a home. Ladislav ?ilunovic, an 88 years old man,
lives in a car wreckage nearby local cemetery in Belgrade's municipality Medakovic
for almost a year. Just before that, as events turned out, the appartment in which
he lived has been officialy given to the successor of his deceased wife. From that
moment on, he found a "new" home in a worn out Fiat 126, well known as "little
iron". According to his own words, considering a fact that he spent all of his career
working in numerous private firms, amount of his pension is only 49 E! During The
World War II Ladislav was a captive in concentration camps Mauthausen and
Auschwitz and have been in forced labor in the mines. Considering that fact, he has
a right to compensation but he cannot receive it because he has no permanent
place of residence. So, according to his words, Ladislav lives with several pets of
his own that warm him throughout the winter and, in return, he feeds them
collecting food remains found in garbage containers because his pension is
worthless for him alone. Sometimes, residents of nearby buildings in municipality
Medakovic, bring him a meal or canned food that, according to his own words, is
usually been stolen from his first neighbors which live in shacks built by different
waste materials surrounding his wreckage.
This should not remain only one of many others sad stories and that's why we invite
all people of good will to contribute their donnations for the sake of permanent
solution for Ladislav Milunovic's destiny.
